Belcher Veterans Memorial - W. H. Greene, a recipient of two Bronze Stars and a Purple Heart Veteran, served in the South Pacific during World War II.  W.H. had a dream of building a Memorial to honor our veterans. On August 17, 2002, the Belcher Veterans Memorial was opened in a beautiful park next door to his home in Belcher, Louisiana.  Eight pathways inlaid with bricks lead up to a central flag and four black marble obelisks memorializing World War I, World War II, the Korean War, Vietnam, the Gulf War and the War on Terrorism, along with the attacks on the United States on December 7, 1941 and September 11, 2001.  Marble benches surround the obelisks and are inscribed with the seals of the Air Force, Army, Coast Guard, Marine Corps, Navy and Merchant Marines.  One bench is inscribed with "Barksdale Air Force Base, Home of the B52", along with a engraving of a B52.  Additional flags surround the memorial.  The pathways contain permanently inscribed bricks. The Memorial is located on Gray Street in Belcher, and is open every day, all year.  Click on a photo to enlarge and read info.
